Built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse, it was converted in 1990 to the luxury Victoria & Alfred Hotel. The hotel is named in honour of Queen Victoria and her son who visited the Cape in 1870 when Prince Alfred officially opened the Breakwater Basin, today’s Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.
Alongside the Alfred Basin’s working dock is the Victoria & Alfred Hotel’s relaxed continental restaurant, the Waterfront Café and an elegant cocktail bar. The restaurant overlooks Table Mountain and the harbour.
Breakfasts are relaxed and informal. Lunches tend to be a selection of crisp salads and other light, innovative dishes. Dinners are a more distinguished, and discerning guests will enjoy a selection of modern, international cuisine.
